The 4-Step Bio-Genetic Home Care Program
What's in Your Bio-Genetic 4-Step Program?
- Vitamin A derivative: Tretinoin (Retin-A, Retinol, or Retinoic Acid) Tretinoin works by exfoliating skin at a deeper level than alpha-hydroxy acids, described below. Tretinoin locates receptor sites on the skin cells that accept certain components of vitamin A. Vitamin A can play a key role in the way skin cells are formed and it may stimulate synthesis of collagen in photo-aged skin.
- Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) are the most amazing skin care ingredient of all time. These acids increase cell turnover by removing the dead cells of the epidermis layer. It unglues these cells, helping them to slough off to reveal healthier skin underneath. Your skin texture improves and pores unclog as alpha-hydroxy acids reveal the more normal-appearing skin cells hidden by an epidermis damaged by sun, dryness, heavy moisturizing or the thickening caused by heavy smoking.
- Vitamin C is an antioxidant, which plays a key role in slowing down the damage caused by free radicals which can deteriorate the skin's support structures, decreasing elasticity and resilience. L-ascorbic acid is a form of vitamin C antioxidant which enhances the effects of sunscreen agents.
- Sun Protection Sunscreen with at least an SPF-30, containing titanium dioxide or zinc oxide, must be used daily to protect against UVA and UVB radiation and prevent further damage from exposure to the sun. As we now know, sun worshippers of the Baby Boom era are now seeing the effects of photo damage on their skin many years later. Further, due to the depletion of ozone layers, we now know that solar effects today are much more damaging than they were twenty years ago.
